The old Templin Schoolhouse will soon receive a fresh lick of paint, thanks to the hard work of volunteers and additional funding from the Federal Government's Stronger Communities Programme.

Federal Member for Wright, Scott Buchholz recently visited the Templin Museum, to give the good news just before Christmas.

“We’re going to partner with the team from the Templin Museum, with $2,500 in funding to go toward the painting of the old school house.

“It’s important we support the community volunteers doing all they can to preserve and showcase our rich heritage.

“The team at the Museum do a really good job, they’re proactive in ensuring the maintenance of the grounds, the artifacts and promoting this as a historical hub,” Mr Buchholz said.

Mr Buchholz urged locals and visitors to come down to the Museum and have a look around.

“This is an award winning Museum right here on our doorstep, there is loads of history throughout the Fassifern, I’d highly recommend a visit to everyone,” Mr Buchholz said.

President of the Museum, Ralph Freeman said the committee hoped to paint the old school house, which was 127 years old and in need of some tender love and care.

Secretary, Karen Douglas said this funding would go towards further enhancing the museum, following recent upgrades.

“We received an ANZAC centenary grant for $9,000 which paid for new purpose built display cabinets.

“That was on top of an earlier grant of $15,000 - from that we made a purpose built war display,” Mrs Douglas said.

Templin Historical Village is located at 397 Boonah Fassifern Road, Templin and is open Sundays from 9:30am or by appointment. Group bookings are encouraged, admission fee is $7 per adult, $3 per child or $15 for families.
