Scott Buchholz, Federal MP for Wright - which includes Lockyer Valley, Gatton and other areas that were tragically devastated by the flood waters on Monday 10 January – is liaising with all local mayors and communities and providing briefings and updates to media throughout the day.
Mr Buchholz said he is personally shocked by the scale of the tragedy in his electorate. “At this time Queensland stands as one in its grief and support. I travel through these areas every week and the people here are some of the hardest working and dedicated people in the nation.”
Mr Buchholz has asked people not to travel to the region unless it is essential. “We need to allow emergency services to get in and I urge people to avoid the region in order to assist with protecting and saving lives.”
