‘TACKLING TOUGH TIMES’ GRANT TO BENEFIT MA MA CREEK

Communities across Queensland are experiencing some of the toughest drought conditions in Australia’s history, and the Ma Ma Creek community will receive a share of $1.2 million provided under the latest round of the Tackling Tough Times Together program.

Federal Member for Wright, Scott Buchholz said the Ma Ma Creek Community Centre,  a recipient of the grant, was thanks to the help of the $15 million provided by the Liberal National Government, to the not-for-profit Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR).

“This grant will provide the Ma Ma Creek Community Centre with the financial means to undertake works, to improve accessibility and increase community access to the centre,” Mr Buchholz said.

“This funding will provide new disability car spaces and remove unsafe paving around the centre, which is currently uneven due to ground movement, as a result of the very dry drought conditions,” said Mr Buchholz.

Mr Buchholz said he was pleased the Liberal National Government was able to provide these funds to the Ma Ma Creek community, because the upgrades were important to improving accessibility.

“I am proud our government has provided $16,800 to the Ma Ma Creek Community Centre Inc. to undertake these important accessibility upgrades.” Mr Buchholz said.

"Almost two-thirds of applications came from communities of fewer than 5,000 people, 33 of which have populations of less than 500 like Ma Ma Creek, so it's great to be able to support community groups in small towns where the opportunity for local fund raising is limited.”
