Assistant Minister for Road Safety and Freight Transport, Scott Buchholz MP joined members of the Australian Livestock and Rural Transporters Association (ALRTA) in Adelaide for their annual conference.

Scott Buchholz said it was an honour to be invited to open the conference and join delegates in their discussions around the future of road transport.

“These are the very people that keep our country moving, it is important that we have an open dialogue with the freight transport community on topics vital to the industry - safety, cost, skills and emerging technology,” Assistant Minister Buchholz said.

“As a former trucking operator, I know first hand the day-to-day issues facing the industry and I look forward to continue working with stakeholders such as ALRTA to deliver better regulatory outcomes.

“The fact is, every product that you buy or touch has a transport value component. Every product in every store in this country, in the big city or small town, arrives on a truck of some variety. Without trucks, Australia stops,” said the Assistant Minister.

Assistant Minister Buchholz opened the joint ALRTA/LRTASA conference in Adelaide over the weekend, one of many conferences scheduled for the 2019 calendar year.

The Australian Livestock and Rural Transporters’ Association (ALRTA) represents hard-working road transport companies, based in the small communities of regional and rural Australia.
