IMPROVEMENTS FOR TAROME RURAL FIRE ON THE WAY
The Tarome Rural Fire Brigade is set to benefit from the Australian Governments Stronger Communities Programme (SCP) Round Five, thanks to the support of Federal Member for Wright, Scott Buchholz.

Last week, Scott Buchholz visited the site to inform the shed that their expression of interest for Round Five of SCP had been successful.

“We’re all acutely aware of the importance of the rural fire service, the volunteers and the critical nature they play in our communities.

“This has been highlighted for locals during the recent and ongoing bushfires. The Tarome brigade, like many other local brigades, were at the front of that firefighting effort.

“By providing additional resources and helping the Tarome RFS with their electric bore project, we hope to build resilience and better protect this community.

“It is vital that the local crews have access to a water source in order to operate efficiently,” Mr Buchholz said.

The Stronger Communities programme has committed funding to over 7,700 community–based projects across Australia.

“This is another example of what a strong budget can deliver, more and improved community infrastructure.

“I want to thank once again the RFS for their hard work, dedication and unwavering support to our local communities during these fire events. We’re forever in your debt,” Mr Buchholz said.

All Rounds of the SCP have been very successful, with a wide variety of projects funded including upgrades to community halls and clubhouses, equipment for both aged care and day care facilities, men's sheds and associated equipment, scoreboards, computers, inflatable rescue boats and disaster recovery generators.

The programme provides grants of between $2,500 and $20,000 to community organisations and local governments for small capital projects that deliver social benefits for local communities.

Ends.

Background:
The total cost of the project is $36,000 and the SCP grant will provide $18,000 or 50 per cent of the total cost.
