The Hon. Scott Buchholz MP named Patron of the 2019 Jimboomba Relay For Life
Federal Member for Wright, Scott Buchholz will help fight back against cancer this October as Patron of the Jimboomba Relay For Life.
Jimboomba’s Relay For Life is a community fundraising initiative where teams fundraise in the lead up to the event. Team members then take turns to walk around the track to signify that cancer never sleeps.
All funds raised from Relay For Life are invested in lifesaving cancer research, prevention programs and support services for Queenslanders affected by cancer.
As Patron, Scott Buchholz is raising awareness for the Cancer Council Queensland event, held on October 12 at Hills College and encouraged the local community to get involved and support the cause.
“As a community leader, I think it is important we do everything we can to lead from the front and raise awareness,” said Mr Buchholz.
“Relay For Life is an engaging community event that brings people together, raises funds for an important cause and increases awareness of cancers.
“We have all have family and friends impacted by cancer.
“I am no different and it is important to me to help increase awareness, participation and raise funds.”
Scott Buchholz explained that that he is looking forward to seeing the community come together on the day.
“I look forward to local residents coming together, supporting a good cause and rallying behind those families in the community impacted by or currently fighting cancer,” he said.
“It is heart-warming to know your community is there for you and supporting you through a tough time.
“Events such as this give people an opportunity to share their story and I believe it encourages others to do everything they can to create a cancer free future.
“If you are unable to make it, at least take from the message the importance of prevention.
“Check your skin, participate in screening programs and if something doesn’t look, feel or seem right see your doctor.”
