While the school year winds down for the year, it’s full steam ahead at the Yarrabilba State School as they gear up to open the gates and welcome students in 2018.
Foundation Principal Lee Harrex said teaching staff were looking forward to seeing their new school facilities completed and open for learning.
“We’ve got 310 enrolments already and with two months to go we’re expecting to begin the school year with 350 students,” Mrs Harrex said.
“The Yarrabilba State School is the first state primary school in the area and like our school motto we’ll be ‘together believing – together achieving’.”
“It’s our belief that our community and children will achieve great things and form lasting connections throughout our journey together.”
Federal Member for Wright Scott Buchholz recently toured the new school facilities with Mrs Harrex and Logan City Division 4 Councillor Laurie Koranski.
“Yarrabilba State School will be a wonderful addition and cornerstone for the growing Yarrabilba community,” Mr Buchholz said.
“Students and the whole school community will benefit from this wonderful new school.”
“It was great to visit and see the school firsthand and the impact the new facilities will have on the community and the foundation students’ learning potential.”
“I hope the students will be inspired and enjoy learning at their new school by putting on their thinking caps on and come up with some great ideas to help make our world a better place.”
