Scott Buchholz, Federal MP for Wright (Lockyer Valley, Grantham region) is heading to Grantham and Murphys Creek today to meet with locals, survey the situation and assist in helping residents better understand what is happening in their devastated towns.
Mr Buchholz, who arrives in Brisbane this afternoon from Mackay where he has been attending his stepfathers funeral, is concerned that local residents are feeling isolated and ignored. Police, emergency services and others involved with this effort are doing a great job, but people from these areas are telling me that they are not being told what is happening. From their perspective, they cant get back to their homes and no one is helping them.
Mr Buchholz said after a meeting with Mayor Steve Jones, he will meet with residents and begin to help them through this traumatic time. These are the people I represent; the people I spend each day with. They are some of the most generous and wonderful people in the nation. They deserve our very best at this time, he said.
Mr Buchholz also plans to assist media with a better flow of information so what is happening in the Locker Valley is reported accurately. He will hold regular meeting briefings from today.
Regular media briefings will be held from today by Mr. Scott Buchholz Federal MP for Wright from the Grantham/Murphys Creek Region.
