Scott Buchholz MP, Federal Member for Wright, is throwing his support behind the community-led campaign to protect the Canungra Area Golf Club, urging locals to sign a Federal Parliament petition before it closes on 1 July.
Mr Buchholz said the Canungra Area Golf Club was far more than just a golf course, serving as a vital community hub for residents across the Scenic Rim and surrounding districts.
“The Canungra Area Golf Club is an institution within our community,” Mr Buchholz said.
“It’s a place where people come together, where friendships are formed, local events are held, and community spirit thrives.
“Facilities like this play an important role in regional communities, and that’s why I’m proud to support the grassroots campaign to ensure the club’s future is protected.”
Club President Andrew Major said the overwhelming community response demonstrated just how important the club was to local residents.
“The support we’ve received has been incredible,” Mr Major said.
“This club has been part of the fabric of Canungra for generations. It’s a place where families gather, visitors are welcomed, and local groups come together.
“We’re asking everyone who values the club and what it contributes to our community to sign the petition and help secure its future.”
Mr Buchholz praised the efforts of local volunteers and community members who had rallied behind the campaign.
“This campaign has been driven by passionate locals who care deeply about preserving an important community asset,” Mr Buchholz said.
“The strength of support we’ve seen shows just how much the Canungra Area Golf Club means to people across the region.
“Every signature sends a clear message that this club matters and deserves to be protected.”
Mr Buchholz encouraged residents to sign the petition and share it with family, friends and community networks before the closing date.
“The petition closes on 1 July, so I encourage everyone to get behind this campaign and make their voice heard.”
