The Bornhoffen PCYC Leadership Development Centre will have even better facilities to inspire and encourage young people after receiving a boost through the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Fund.
The Bornhoffen PCYC received $7,500 to help with the cost of installing a multi-sport outdoor half court which will extend the range of youth and leadership development experiences they provide
Bornhoffen Co-Manager Mick Foran said the funding would help provide upgraded facilities for over 10,000 visitors and over 150 different schools and community groups who visit each year.
“PCYC Queensland is all about building safer, healthier communities through youth development,” Mr Foran said.
“The new multi-sport half court will help keep young people active and healthy but also encourage them to build connections with others and to improve their social skills.”
“We aim to keep our accommodation and programs affordable for the community. Receiving this funding allows us to undertake a project that we would otherwise be unable to do.”
Federal Member for Wright Scott Buchholz congratulated the Bornhoffen PCYC on their success.
“The Bornhoffen PCYC works so hard to inspire young people to be self-aware, to build their social skills and contribute positively to their communities,” Mr Buchholz said.
“I am proud to be part of a government that supports the initiatives of community-minded groups like the Bornhoffen PCYC through this grant.”
“I thank them for their continued commitment to the local community.”
