The Liberal and Nationals Government is investing $350,000 to upgrade Lavelle Lagoon Park in Greenbank, in partnership with Logan City Council.
Federal Member for Wright, Scott Buchholz and Councillor for Division 11, Natalie Willcocks have announced funding of $600,000 to deliver the upgrades.
Mr Buchholz said the Liberals and Nationals Federal Government was investing in the local community to build better infrastructure, support the local community and make Greenbank a better place to live.
“These fantastic upgrades at Lavelle Lagoon will completely makeover the park, provide a better place for residents and transform what is an underutilised space.
“Our funding partnership is making the upgrades possible, with $350,000 in Australian Government funding for the project, which will see new playground, upgraded seating and parking.
“This will provide a vital boost for our local community, support local jobs and economic growth while delivering lasting upgrades that will benefit residents for years to come,” Mr Buchholz said.
$1 billion in funding is flowing under the third phase of the LRCI program to support local councils across Australia to improve their local road networks and deliver priority community infrastructure projects.
Councillor for Division 11, Cr Willcocks said the park upgrades were about delivering better infrastructure for the local community.
“We have listened and acted on community feedback, this area has been underutilised and has not attracted the investment it needs, partnering with the Australian Government we are going to change that.
“Logan City has many great parks and greenspace and the upgrades we are going to deliver here at Lavelle Lagoon will meet community desire and joint the many other great local parks we have.
“I am excited to see this project get underway so our residents can enjoy it sooner,” Cr Willcocks said.
