Local road users will have access to safer and more reliable travel when nine bridges in Wright are upgraded through the Federal Government’s Bridges Renewal Program.
The nine bridges will be upgraded at a total cost of $23.19 million to be co-funded by the Federal Government and the Scenic Rim Regional Council and Logan City Council.
· Ferguson Reserve Bridge, Allenview;
· Back Creek Bridge, Beechmont;
· Sharp Bridge, Beechmont;
· Botan Creek Bridge, Beechmont;
· Cavell Bridge, Boyland;
· Josephville Bridge, Josephville;
· S Todd Bridge, Josephville;
· Brookland Bridge, Kagaru; and
· Scott Lane Culvert, South Maclean.
“The renewal of nine bridges in the electorate will deliver social and economic benefits across our region,” Federal Member for Wright Scott Buchholz said.
“A strong regional bridges network is crucial to ensure local residents have a safer run on our roads and improve connectivity ensuring community access to essential services.”
“The upgrade of these successful bridges will also help drive the economy through the creation of construction jobs and boost the efficiency of our local businesses and primary producers.”
Mr Buchholz congratulated the Scenic Rim Regional Council and the Logan City Council on identifying the bridge upgrades as priorities for the region.
“Our local Councils have thought seriously about how well their proposal serves the community and have considered the needs of residents and local industry.
