Federal Member for Wright Scott Buchholz has this week taken his fight Canberra, calling on Parliament to extend funding for the National School Chaplaincy Program.
“I rose in Parliament this week to add my voice to the many voices advocating for our school chaplains and the National School Chaplaincy Program,” Mr Buchholz said.
“Chaplains make a real difference in our school communities and with the support of SU Chaplaincy our Chappies bring their listening ears and caring hearts to provide social, emotional and spiritual support to our young people, their families and school staff.”
“I am fighting to ensure that the funding extends beyond the 2018 school year, when it is currently scheduled to end and I’m asking for help from my electorate of Wright and all Australians who know first-hand what a great job our Chappies do.”
Mr Buchholz has created an online petition and is asking locals to add their name so he can let the Federal Treasurer and Education Minister know the strong level of community support for the Program.
“I encourage locals to sign my online petition and share it with their school communities to show how much our local community values the work of our Chappies.”
“I welcome your support to ensure this positive program that is enriching the social fabric of many local schools remains a part of our education system into the future.”
