Federal Member for Wright Scott Buchholz once again strapped on his combat boots to join members of the Veterans Support Centre Lockyer/Brisbane Valley for a tour of the RAAF Base Amberley.
“It was my pleasure to organise this visit for members of the local Veterans Support Centre to the Amberley Air Base,” Mr Buchholz said.
“The Centre is a vital part of the community in the Lockyer Valley. These brave men and women served our country and I’m glad I could to pay tribute to them and provide them with this meaningful experience.”
Mr Buchholz and Veteran Support Centre members met with Air Commodore Ken Robinson to view a Boeing C-17 Globemaster III and Air Commodore John Meier for a tour of the Amberley Aviation Heritage Centre.
Veterans Support Centre Lockyer/Brisbane Valley member Grant Mullins said the visit brought back pleasant memories for members from their time in the Defence Force.
“Things have changed since many of members worked here, so it is a chance for them to see the different aircraft and speak to people they know,” Mr Mullins said.
Mr Buchholz said this visit and his recent Australian Defence Force Parliamentary Program attachment as part of Exercise Talisman Sabre in Shoalwater Bay gave him a greater appreciation for the many defence families and veterans in the local community.
“We have an active Defence community in our electorate with the RAAF Base Amberley close by, the Landwarfare Centre at Canungra and many locals serving in our Defence Force Reserves,” Mr Buchholz said.
“These opportunities also inform the work I do on various parliamentary committees.”
“Thank you to the RAAF Base Amberley for your generous hospitality and an experience of a lifetime.”
