The Lockyer Valley veteran community is set to benefit from funding through the latest round of the Veteran and Community Grant program, the Member for Wright, Scott Buchholz today announced.
The grant for $12,286 will help the Veterans Support Centre Lockyer/ Brisbane Valley Incorporated located in Laidley assist the local veteran community to continue improving services and support for veterans and their families.
Mr Buchholz said that he has no doubt that the support centre are a deserving recipient and will put this funding to good use.
“The Veterans Support Centre is a vital part of the veteran and defence community in the Lockyer Valley and Brisbane Valley. This funding will help them continue to support local veterans through the purchasing of computer equipment and a printer to help with the distribution of a newsletter”,
“This announcement is welcome news for all in our community and particularly those who have so freely given their time and efforts to the work of The Veterans Support Centre, a most deserving recipient of assistance from the Australian Government,” Mr Buchholz said.
Ex-service and community organisations, veteran groups and private organisations that contribute to the health and welfare of the veteran community are all eligible to apply for funding through the Veteran and Community Grants program.
Mr Buchholz was enthusiastic in his congratulations to the organisation and would like to encourage other local veterans affairs groups to apply for the next round of funding.
