The Tamborine Mountain Historical Society will continue to make history after receiving a boost through the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities Fund.
The Tamborine Mountain Historical Society received $5,000 to construct a weather, fire and vermin proof archival storage room to house the Society’s original documents, photos and items.
President Muriel Shephard said the funding would greatly benefit the Society and the local community.
“This funding will go a long way to storing, protecting and preserving the history of Tamborine Mountain and the surrounding areas for future generations,” Mrs Shephard said.
“We’re a very small, non-profit organisation but we have many expenses, this grant will allow us to focus our efforts on sharing the history of Tamborine Mountain.”
Federal Member for Wright Scott Buchholz congratulated the Tamborine Mountain Historical Society on their success.
“The Society works so hard to preserve and share the incredible history of the local area that continues to shape Tamborine Mountain today,” Mr Buchholz said.
“I am proud to be part of a government that supports the initiatives of community-minded groups like the Tamborine Mountain Historical Society through this grant.”
“I thank them for their continued commitment to the history of the local area and community.”
