The Forest Hill Community Development Association will receive funding under the Australian Government’s Saluting Their Service Grants program, to maintain the Forest Hill War Memorial and ensure the community continues to acknowledge our service personnel.
Member for Wright Scott Buchholz said the funding will go towards repairs on the Forest Hill War Memorial, located on the corner of Gordon and Victoria Streets, Forest Hill.
“The Forest Hill community is proud of their history and those that paid the ultimate sacrifice in defence of our country and shared values. This funding has enabled the Forest Hill Community Development Association to get on with repairs and maintenance of the memorial.
“It is timely for this work to be undertaken, which was completed just last week in advance of Remembrance Day, which is coming up on the eleventh of November.
“I am sure the entire community will take time to acknowledge our war heroes and their families and commemorate their memories in a respectful way,” Mr Buchholz said.
Mr Buchholz thanked the local community for the work they do in ensuring the heritage of the memorial and highlighted the importance of the grant program.
“Saluting Their Service grants are delivering funding across the country to support projects similar to this, highlighting the service of men and women in wars, conflicts and peace keeping operations.
Applications can be submitted on the Saluting Their Service Commemoration Program page on the Community Grants Hub.
