4 schools in Wright have received over $5.9 million of funding from the Federal Government under the Capital Grants Programme.
The Kooralbyn International School, the forthcoming McAuley College in Beaudesert and Tamborine Mountain College have all been successful in having their grant applications approved and will commence work soon.
- The Kooralbyn International School has received a $550,000 grant as a contribution towards the construction of a new boarding facility and administration building.
- McAuley College, the soon to be built Catholic college in Beaudesert, has received a $3.5 million grant for the stage 1 construction of college infrastructure.
- Tamborine Mountain College has received a $480,000 grant for the construction of 4 new storerooms, verandas, outdoor learning areas and walkways.
- The planned Yarrabilba Catholic Primary School has received a $1.44 million for stage 1 construction of the new school including 2 Prep rooms, 6 general learning areas, administration, library, tuckshop, uniform store, covered areas, walkways, and pupil amenities.
Scott Buchholz, Federal Member for Wright said these grants would be hugely beneficial to these schools as they seek to upgrade and expand their capital infrastructure.
“This Federal money will be well spent on improving school facilities, and in the case of the McAuley College, developing the facilities of a new school”
“The new assets constructed with the help of this grant will bring a multitude of benefits to the schools and also to the local community who will benefit from having updated and modern facilities to use”
“Keeping local school facilities up to date and expanding school infrastructure to deal with our growing local populations are essential to ensuring our local schools remain competitive and continue to service the needs of the community” said Mr Buchholz.
All works are expected to commence in 2016.
