THE Mudgeeraba Light Horse Museum will get a facelift through a $5000 Commonwealth grant to paint the facility inside and out.
The museum committee, which keeps the history of the Australian Light Horse Regiment alive, will pitch in time and money for the $12,089 project.
In applying for the funding, museum second vice-president Brian Bertwistle AM said the funding would help bring new life to the building, which the group shares with the National Service Association.
Federal Member for Wright Scott Buchholz congratulated the group on its success in round 1 of the federal government’s Stronger Communities program.
“The folk at the Mudgeeraba Museum do the important job of preserving and sharing the story of the Australian Light Horse soldiers, known for their endurance, courage and mateship,” he said.
“The museum is showing signs of wear and tear but through this grant they’ll be able to restore it to a more presentable standard to keep bringing schools and groups through the venue.
“I congratulate them on their success in getting this grant and I thank them for the important work they do in sharing Australia’s war history.”
