Federal Member for Wright Scott Buchholz yesterday officially opened the new Administration Centre, the new learning areas in the Daniel Walsh Building and the refurbished McAuley Building at Our Lady of Good Counsel School in the Lockyer Valley.
Students and staff at Our Lady of Good Counsel School now have full use of the new facilities including new and refurbished general learning areas, a multipurpose room, a staff room, administration areas, an IT support room, a uniform shop, a learning support area, associated walkways and a carpark.
The Coalition Government provided $2,374,376 in funding to the school from the Capital Grants Program.
Mr Buchholz attended the opening of the new and refurbished areas on behalf of Senator the Hon Simon Birmingham, Minister for Education and Training.
“It was great to visit Our Lady of Good Counsel School and see the new facilities firsthand and the impact they will have,” Mr Buchholz said.
“Students and the whole school community will benefit from using the new facilities.”
“These new learning spaces take into account the latest in education research and will see students learn more effectively.”
Mr Buchholz said the new and refurbished buildings would be an asset to all students and teachers at Our Lady of Good Counsel School.
“While buildings alone do not make a great school, I hope students and staff will enjoy learning and be inspired by these new facilities,” Mr Buchholz said.
“The Coalition Government is committed to improving the quality of our schools and equipping students with the skills they need to succeed in an increasingly competitive world”.
