Federal Member for Wright Scott Buchholz today officially opened the new learning facilities at Silkwood School at Mount Nathan.
Students and staff at Silkwood School now have full use of their new administration office, art room, science laboratory, eight general learning areas, library/resource area, amenities, lift, plant room, cover area, covered outdoor area and additional facilities.
The Coalition Government provided $810,000 in funding to the school from the Capital Grants Program.
Mr Buchholz attended the opening of the new facilities on behalf of the Federal Minister for Education and Training Senator the Hon Simon Birmingham.
“Students and the whole school community will benefit from the use of these new facilities,” Mr Buchholz said.
“The Australian Government is committed to putting science, technology, engineering and mathematics at the heart of school education. These new facilities will provide an excellent opportunity for Silkwood School students to lead the way.”
“These new learning spaces take into account the latest in education research and will see students learn more effectively.”
Mr Buchholz said the new and refurbished buildings would be an asset to all students and teachers at Silkwood School.
“I hope students will enjoy learning and be inspired by these new facilities to put their thinking caps on and come up with great ideas to help make our world a better place,” Mr Buchholz said.
