The Zonta Club of Beaudesert has received a boost to continue its work in the local community after receiving a Commonwealth Volunteer Grant.
Federal Member for Wright Scott Buchholz congratulated the Zonta Club of Beaudesert, which is among 39 community organisations to share in $151,101 under the Volunteer Grants Program.
The Zonta Club of Beaudesert received $1,600 for first aid and safety equipment.
President Anne Beulah said the money would improve the work the Club does to serve and advocate for women in the community.
“The money will be used to continue our breast care cushion program supporting breast cancer sufferers in the community,” Mrs Beulah said.
“We create and distribute breast cushions to the Princess Alexandra, Mater and Sunnybank Private Hospitals to ease the pain of women who have had mastectomies.”
“With this grant we can purchase materials and sew 500 cushions to provide comfort and relief to women after their surgery.”
Mr Buchholz thanked the Zonta Club of Beaudesert for their work in the community.
“The work these women humbly go about doing makes a real difference in the lives of breast cancer sufferers and I’m so glad we as a government can help boost the capacity of our local volunteers through this grant,” Mr Buchholz said.
“Without our local volunteers many of our local services would cease to exist, they are invaluable members of our community.”
“I thank the Zonta Club of Beaudesert for their continuing commitment and service to women in our community.”
