Kindy kids across Wright are smiling after benefiting from a more than $400 million preschool funding boost announced by the Coalition Government.
Federal Member for Wright Scott Buchholz said $2.85 million for 2,220 local kindergarteners would ensure local children had access to 15 hours of quality early learning before they start school.
“The Coalition Government is giving our littlest learners in Wright the best start to their education,” Mr Buchholz said.
“We know that a quality preschool education is essential for laying the foundation for successful learning, including the transition to full-time and future school success.”
The funding extends the National Partnership Agreement on Universal Access to Early Childhood Education with $427.8 million this year and $440 million in 2019.
“This $2.85 million funding for the 2,220 kindergarteners in Wright gives certainty for families and children,” Mr Buchholz said.
“It means children in the year before school will continue to have access to 15 hours of early learning a week into the future.”
“This funding boost will continue to allow children in their earliest years of education to learn, explore, build their confidence and enhance their social skills in readiness for school.”
