Our Show Societies and the events they host and support, like our fantastic Agricultural Shows, expo’s, market stalls, equestrian events and of course, the Lights on the Hill trucking memorial in Gatton, contribute to our local economy.
The annual shows in the Lockyer Valley provide an avenue for locals as well as those further afield to come and see what is on offer in our beautiful region – from local talent to the world-class produce and livestock grown right here.
Shows also bring cash to the local economy, support local Lockyer Valley jobs and businesses and play a vital role in every Lockyer Valley community.
I’m proud to announce that the Federal Government through the AgShows Development Grant is making an investment of $122,770 to improve the facilities of the Gatton Show Society.
The team there are upgrading the power and refurbishing the grounds.
While we’re all disappointed the Show cannot go ahead this year due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Show Society team, ably led by Katherine Raymont – can get these upgrades underway to make next year’s Show bigger and better.
As a regional member of Parliament, I know the importance of our local shows and strongly believe in ensuring they’re supported in the tough times and the good times. They’re important to our community, economy and in ensuring the rural and regional areas thrive.
Ends.
