Scott Buchholz, the Member for Wright, has announced that Laidley Skate Park will be upgraded to help local residents become more active, following a $50,000 investment from the Morrison Liberal National Government’s Community Sport Infrastructure Grant Program.
“The Liberal National Government is investing in local infrastructure and sport to increase community participation. There are a wide range of health and social benefits from increasing local activity and participation in grassroots sport,” Mr Buchholz said.
“Thanks to our responsible management of the Budget, the Liberal National Government has been able to prioritise investments that upgrade community sporting facilities. This investment will enable Laidley residents to access better local sporting options.
“The Laidley Skate Park is a facility that is frequented by locals, so this investment will provide greater accessibility and make a real difference to those that utilise the space.
“This funding will upgrade and extend the rideable concrete surfaces and provide additional seating areas for spectators, bringing locals together and delivering more community-based activities,” Mr Buchholz said.
“Thanks to our strong economic management, we are in a position to invest in local community projects. Under the Liberal National Government’s economic plan, we can guarantee the essential services that families and communities rely on to stay healthy, safe, and connected.”
“I am proud that we can afford to partner with the Lockyer Valley Regional Council to support the upgrade of community infrastructure,” Mr Buchholz said.
This investment in the Laidley Skate Park was made possible by an additional $40 million for the Community Sport Infrastructure Grant Program, which was allocated in the 2019-20 Budget.
