Canungra Showgrounds is set to benefit following the announcement that the ground’s sewerage upgrade project will be funded under the Building Better Regions Fund – Infrastructure Projects stream.
Federal Member for Wright Scott Buchholz said the project was a significant investment in building a stronger economy and driving jobs for the long term.
“This is a fantastic outcome for Canungra and the wider community, with the project receiving $259,500 to install sanitary drainage, holding tanks and a soil dump point at the showgrounds,” Mr Buchholz said
“This will have major flow-on benefits across the community including supporting our famous Canungra Show and Rodeo and also to the many hundreds of campers which come through Canungra on a weekly basis.”
“It was only a few weeks ago I stood at Canungra with Cr West, Wayne Reiser and the team from Canungra Sport and Recreation to call for this upgrade, and pleased to say the funding will now be delivered.
“The project will deliver significant economic and social benefits to the community and ensure our region will continue to benefit, thrive and prosper from this investment into the future.”
President of the Canungra Sport and Recreation Association, Wayne Reiser thanked Scott Buchholz with the funding and said the significant investment will ensure the future of this important community asset.
“This is an important upgrade and one I have been working on for a while with our dedicated team in here at the showgrounds,”
“Scott has shown a great interest in our cause, our project and our community and has delivered for Canungra, and I can’t thank him enough”.
