Federal Member for Wright, Scott Buchholz, has secured $250,000 of federal funding for a much needed upgrade to the Boonah Showgrounds.
The $250,000 will be put towards sealing the show grounds access roads, upgrade the arena lighting and replace a toilet block in the Caravan Park.
Mr. Buchholz said the Boonah Showground is home to numerous Boonah community groups and this funding will ensure it continues to meet the communities growing demand for its facilities.
The Boonah Showgrounds is the home for the Fassifern Horse & Pony Club, The Boonah Rodeo & Campdraft Association, the Fassifern Netball Association, The Boonah Poultry Club, The Boonah Working Horse Group & Boonah Girl Guides,
The Show Society which delivered its 113th show this year, has done a wonderful job of maintaining the ageing infrastructure but demand for the facilities has grown and the grounds are in need of some attention said Mr. Buchholz.
Beth Hern, Secretary of the Boonah Show Society, says Mr. Buchholz pledge will have a huge impact on the Showgrounds.
This money, used in conjunction with grants would go even further in upgrading our aging infrastructure. Also, by being able to do these projects, means we have to spend less money on the maintenance,
Mr. Buchholz interest and support for the Showgrounds and the Show Society is hugely appreciated, he obviously recognises the grounds significance within the Boonah community said Mrs. Hern.
This $250,000 pledge comes on the back of a $300,000 announcement for CCTV in the Jimboomba CBD and the approval of the first Green-Army project for Wright which will focus on weed infestation in our river systems.
