WRIGHT MP Scott Buchholz has welcomed a two-week extension to round two of the federal government’s Safer Streets CCTV funding program.
The deadline for online applications has been extended to 2pm, March 2.
Community groups, councils, incorporated not-for-profit organisations, chambers of commerce, Neighbourhood Watch and police are eligible to apply.
The government will award up to $29.4 million for individual grants for CCTV cameras and better lighting in retail, entertainment and commercial precincts or public parks.
Mr Buchholz urged groups to get their applications under way to make the most of the extension.
“This extension gives councils and eligible incorporated not-for-profit organisations a greater opportunity to support their local community through safety and crime prevention initiatives,” Mr Buchholz said.
“Please get in touch with my office as soon as possible if you need any help with your application – we are here to help you put forward a solid case which meets the eligibility requirements and selection criteria.”
In round one of the program last year, the Jimboomba region got 10 CCTV cameras through advocacy from Mr Buchholz and a strong community push by the Logan City Council and the Logan Country Safe City Group.
