LOCKYER Valley veterans and their families are the winners out of a $34,237 Commonwealth grant for the Veterans’ Support Centre at Laidley.
The Veterans Support Centre Lockyer Valley will use the money towards much-needed upgrades towards their kitchen so they can provide better services for local veterans.
Federal Member for Wright Scott Buchholz said it was important to help the services which support veterans and their families.
“We honour the service and sacrifice of the men and women who serve in defence of our country and this funding will go a long way to helping the hard-working volunteers of the Veterans’ Support Centre Lockyer Valley offer an even better service to local veterans,” he said.
“I congratulate the whole team at the Veterans’ Support Centre on securing this funding and I thank them for the invaluable work they do towards improving the lives of our veterans and their families.”
Mr Buchholz said local ex-service and community organisations, veteran groups and private organisations were eligible to apply for funding for projects that contribute to the health and welfare of the veteran community through the DVA Veteran and Community Grants program.
