Federal Member for Wright, Scott Buchholz has announced the Logan Village Falcons junior soccer club have received a big boost under the Morrison Governments Stronger Communities Programme (SCP).
Mr Buchholz made the $10,000 announcement at the Falcons last week, joining President Matt Lewis and football operations manager, Ian Judd.
“The SCP supports the Australian Government’s commitment to deliver social benefits in communities across Australia.
“The Morrison Government is investing in our community here in Logan Village, to improve community groups and support them in the work they do,” Mr Buchholz said.
Mr Judd said the club found out about the SCP through local councillor Laurie Koranski when meeting with her and they subsequently applied.
“Receiving the amazing support from our local MP Scott Buchholz is wonderful and naturally helps community sporting organisations such as Logan Village Falcons to provide a more enjoyable environment to develop as players and people.
“The new goals have proven invaluable in providing our players with improved and safer equipment with which to enjoy their football as well as aiding our coaches to undertake better training sessions with their teams.
“Without the grant, it would have proven a difficult and time-consuming task to have raised the funds for this equipment,” Mr Judd said.
Mr Buchholz congratulated the entire Logan Village Falcons All Sports executive and thanked them for their efforts in the community.
“I am very pleased to support the Falcons and their volunteers, they do a great job ensuring local sport’s can go ahead and kids have a team to be involved in.
“They do amazing work right here in our community and I am proud the Morrison Government is partnering with the Falcons to improve equipment, help out the players and volunteers and reduce the fundraising burden.
In 2020, the value of volunteering to Queensland was almost $84 billion. That is an incredible amount of money and the cost to replace the labour provided by volunteers in Queensland in 2020 was more than $37 billion. We simply could not afford to do it and so much in our community would not get done,” Mr Buchholz said.
Round 7 of the program will provide $22.65 million to encourage and support participation in local projects, improve local community participation and contribute to vibrant and viable communities.
