Mr Buchholz has challenged the Prime Minister following her comments that nine out of 10 households will be better off with the Carbon Tax.
My challenge to you as residents and businesses of the Lockyer Valley and Scenic Rim is that if you believe you will be better off financially as a result of the Carbon Tax, please contact my office and explain how your family, your business, your organisation, your non?for?profit company or your charity that assists the local community, is going to be better off, Mr Buchholz said.
To date I have not had one person come up to me in the street and say ? I need a Carbon Tax, he said.
As of July 1, every time you switch on a light, or the washing machine, the microwave or even make a cup of tea, you will be paying more under the Carbon Tax, Mr Buchholz said.
Mr Buchholz also highlighted that the Government is planning for the Carbon Tax to go up and up, rising from $23 a tonne to $37 by 2020 and $350 by 2050.
I can assure the people of Lockyer Valley & Scenic Rim that the Coalition team and I are doing everything possible to give the people of Australia the truth about this Carbon Tax, Mr Buchholz said.
And with your help we will deliver the real truth back to the PM.
The PM has said that nine out 10 households will be better off with the Carbon Tax, however according to the Governments own modelling system, this Carbon Tax will raise a staggering $37 billion over the forward estimates, he said.
Mr Buchholz reinforced that from the very day the election is called, the Coalition will take immediate and concrete steps to repeal the carbon tax.
Do the people of Lockyer Valley and Scenic Rim believe that Julia Gillard would be PM today if she said before the election, that there will be a Carbon Tax under the Government she leads? I dont think so Mr Buchholz said.
