Peace Lutheran Primary School has been successful under the Australian Governments Saluting Their Service commemorative grants program.
Federal Member for Wright, Scott Buchholz has announced that the school will soon receive $2,000 in funding support to install a flagpole in the schools memorial garden.
“The Australian Government’s Saluting Their Service grants program was designed to help local communities commemorate Australian war time history.
“I was thrilled to be in the Lockyer Valley on Anzac Day and see the thousands of people at a variety of services, paying their respects and remembering our fallen and returned service personnel.
“This grants program is about supporting our proud military background and this funding will help Peace Lutheran contribute to preserving that history for future generations,” Mr Buchholz said.
Organisations across Australia shared in more than $1.2 million to fund projects that will assist with ensuring the commemoration of our current and former Australian Defence Force personnel continues.
The Department of Veterans’ Affairs administers the STS grants. Applications for the next round of STS grants is now open.
Mr Buchholz encouraged local schools, RSL’s, veteran support groups and other community organisations to visit https://www.communitygrants.gov.au/ and apply if they had a commemorative project in the local community.
