Harrisville State School’s new playground is complete and providing juniors with a new activity area, delivering on an election commitment made by local Member Scott Buchholz.
Mr Buchholz said he was pleased to see the new junior playground complete, to give the students at Harrisville State School a modern, safe and fun area to enjoy during breaks.
“In 2019, I committed $25,000 to the Harrisville State School to build a new playground if re-elected, that has been delivered and working with the school, the new play area is complete.
“Through our community developments grant program, we have partnered with Principal Michelle White and the school P&C to co-fund and get this small but important project underway.
Harrisville State School Principal, Michelle White, welcomed the funding and said the new equipment was a big benefit to the younger children.
“The new playground for our Playgroup and Early Years students is a wonderful asset to our school community.
It is bright, colourful and provides hours of fun as children play and learn together,” Mrs White said.
Following the completion of the project, Mr Buchholz visited the school to thank students for their patience and to officially open the new equipment.
“Despite the challenges of COVID-19 causing some delays, the school group has been very patient and the team at Harrisville has worked with us to get the project done.
“I am pleased to officially open the playground and see the children now enjoying it,” Mr Buchholz said.
