New equipment, minor building works, air conditioning or additional support to help students could soon be on the way for schools across the region, with the Australian Government providing between $1,000 and $20,000 for projects to improve the learning environment of local schools.
“Projects could include small-scale extensions or classroom refurbishments, new computer facilities, mental health and counselling services, playground equipment, library resources, or sports facilities,” Scott Buchholz said.
The Local Schools Community Fund is open to Government, Independent and Catholic schools, eligibility conditions will apply, and proposed projects will be assessed by a local assessment committee yet to be appointed.
The Federal Government announced the $30.2 million Local Schools Community Fund in the 2019 Budget.
