Students at Beaudesert’s McAuley College are jumping with joy after the new basketball hoops were installed thanks to funding under the Local Schools Community Fund (LSCF).
On a recent visit to the College, Federal Member for Wright Scott Buchholz joined Principal, Deidre Young and students Abi and Max to inspect and try out the new basketball facilities.
Mr Buchholz said it was great to see local school communities and specifically students, benefiting from the Australian Governments grant program.
“This is one of many examples we will see over the coming months of local schools, getting on with building projects and delivering programs that are important to them.
“Our local schools community fund empowered local school communities to consider projects that were beyond their existing budgets and get on with them.
“McAuley have successfully delivered new sporting infrastructure for students, utilising funds they have raised and the $10,000 they were successful in receiving under the LSCF,” Mr Buchholz said
Principal of McAuley College, Deidre Young said the School appreciates the ongoing support of Scott Buchholz and the Australian Government.
“McAuley College is grateful to the Honourable Scott Buchholz and Federal Government for their support of our College.
“This is further demonstrated by the recent LSCF grant.
“The basketball hoops have really enhanced our new indoor facility, providing greater opportunities for both our school and the wider community.
“The students were most excited about the new equipment and have enjoyed the ability to play basketball in this space.”
The Australian Government is providing $30.2 million in 2019–20 for the Local Schools Community Fund.
