Federal Member for Wright, Scott Buchholz was pleased to join Principal of Laidley District State School, Chris Muir to announce $12,000 in funding for new shade structures.
Mr Buchholz said the funding was being delivered thanks to the Federal Liberal National Governments local schools community fund.
“In the last budget, we set up the new fund, $30 million in funding was available, to partner with local school communities to deliver projects, programs, assets and equipment to improve learning environments and deliver better outcomes.
“Our schools are very important to our communities here in the Lockyer, especially our rural communities where smaller schools are more often found and we see great cohesiveness.
“I pulled together a committee of education leaders, principals representing rural and metro, primary and senior, state, independent and catholic sectors.
“With them, we diligently worked through all of the applications, we were significantly oversubscribed, and now we’re seeing the benefits of that funding on the ground!”
“The proof is right here at Laidley District, where we’ll soon see new shade structures and a better play space for students.
“It is great to see our Lockyer schools benefit from the program. Across the region we’re seeing musical programs, a new kitchen and better out door learning and play areas.” Mr Buchholz said.
