Secretary of the Mount Walker Church, Lorna Fleck has welcomed Federal Government funding to purchase new equipment and would support the community.
“We greatly appreciate being selected, by Scott Buchholz, as one of the recipients of the Stronger Communities Grant this year.
“We know that our Church members will be looking forward to using the sound equipment we have ordered and our local Community members will benefit greatly too, especially during the outdoor memorial services and annual events like our Community Christmas Carols.
“Thank you for considering our request through this grant,” Mrs Fleck said.
Federal Member for Wright, Scott Buchholz said the Mount Walker Church was an important part of the local community and he was pleased the Stronger Communities Programme (SCP) was supporting local groups.
Mr Buchholz congratulated the Church executive and thanked them for their efforts in the community.
“I am very pleased to see SCP grant funding go to support the Mount Walker Church and their volunteers, they play an important role in the community, providing friendship, support and faith.
“They do great work and the Morrison Government is proud to partner with volunteer organisations that provide a support to our community, largely run by volunteers.
In 2020, the value of volunteering to Queensland was almost $84 billion.
“That is an incredible amount of money and the cost to replace the labour provided by volunteers in Queensland in 2020 was more than $37 billion. We simply could not afford to do it and so much in our community would not get done,” Mr Buchholz said.
Round 7 of the program will provide $22.65 million to encourage and support participation in local projects, improve local community participation and contribute to vibrant and viable communities. To apply, contact Scott Buchholz office for an expression of interest form by emailing scott.buchholz.mp@aph.gov.au or calling (07) 5541 0150.
