Winner of the 2021 Buy Local Christmas competition, Tony Nykvist plans on spending his winnings locally, after being presented with a $1,000 cheque from LNP MPs Scott Buchholz and Jon Krause.
After putting his receipt in the draw at Ritchies IGA Boonah, Mr Nykvist was drawn the winner of the $1,000 cash prize.
Mr Nykvist said he there was a few things from Mitre10 he had his eye on and thanks to the win, he no longer had to wait for next pay.
“There are a few things we have our eye on, some camping gear we want to buy and an esky up there at Mitre10 we have had our eye on.
“Thanks to this, we don’t need to wait until next pay. This is a great initiative to support local business and I thank Scott Buchholz and Jon Krause,” Mr Nykvist said.
“Now, we are off to buy a lottery ticket!” Mr Nykvist said.
LNP Member for Wright, Scott Buchholz said there were a few thousand entries from across the Scenic Rim and he was glad the winner planned on spending local.
“Tony came up a winner, how lucky is he – but thanks to Tony for supporting local business, you have to be in it to win it and he has.
“It was fantastic to hear from Tony that he would use the money local, buying local and keeping the money in our economy.
“A thousand dollars extra now in the Nykvist’s bank account and it is great to hear that they plan on spending this money locally, to buy something a little extra and to support local business.
“My message to residents and visitors, is support local business and that supports local people, the pandemic and restrictions have been tough,” Mr Buchholz said.
LNP Member for Scenic Rim, Jon Krause said it was great a local had come out the winner and planned on maintaining support for local business.
“This is a great initiative that has supported our business in the lead up to and over Christmas, with some 3,000 entries across the Scenic Rim, we hope the buy local message will be maintained.
“Our community has so much to offer, fresh produce, high quality products and access to all the goods and services you could want – buy local,” Mr Krause said.
