The 2017-18 Budget provides the foundation for a fair, secure future full of opportunities for individuals, families and businesses in Wright.
Federal Member for Wright Scott Buchholz said the future of the region depended on how the economy was shaped locally and nationally.
“Our plan will deliver investment and growth opportunities in our area through new infrastructure and a commitment to Australian jobs and small businesses. Importantly, it guarantees the essentials like health, education, and lower cost of living for local residents and their families,” he said.
“This is a sustainable budget with crackdowns on the big banks and multinational tax avoidance with guaranteed funding for infrastructure and services.”
Mr Buchholz said investment in infrastructure was a key driver locally.
“I am particularly pleased to see an $8.4 billion investment in the Inland Rail Project which will create local jobs and is great news for our local primary producers.”
“The Government is continuing its support of local small and medium businesses through tax cuts and eliminating red tape.”
Mr Buchholz said the Budget guaranteed the essentials for locals and their families.
“Our plan reduces the cost of living pressures by helping young people buy their first home and securing Australia’s energy and gas supply.”
“Local schools will benefit from the $18.6 billion Quality Schools Package – we’ve seen today exactly how much our school communities stand to gain with the release of the online funding estimator.”
“I am pleased to see a continuing investment in our region through ongoing funding of the Stronger Regions, Roads to Recovery, Black Spot and Stronger Communities Programs which all deliver for our region and support vital local projects.”
Mr Buchholz said the 2017-18 Budget will ensure better days ahead for hard working locals.
“Our Government is making the right choices to provide a better future for all Australians – but especially people living in areas like ours,” Mr Buchholz said.
