Despite a wild-held assumption that manufacturing is dead, firms in regional Queensland are investing in expansion and powering ahead.
Assistant Minister for Road Safety and Freight Transport Scott Buchholz recently visited Moore Trailers in Pittsworth, a firm that is currently preparing to double their size and production.
Scott Buchholz said it was a pleasant surprise to hear of the strong local investment in manufacturing that would deliver more jobs for the region.
“There is doom and gloom about the Australian manufacturing industry, but it isn’t all truth. Moore Trailers is the second firm I have visited this month that is investing in expansion for the future.
“While there a couple of the fellas from KalFresh were there collecting two brand new trailers to aid their business.
“It just goes to show that local manufacturers, producing high quality products are supplying to the region’s major economic industries. It is great to see businesses supporting other businesses and keeping work locally to support jobs in Queensland,” Scott Buchholz said.
The doubling of production at Moore Trailers is expected to see job growth, increasing from 80 employees currently to over 120 jobs when production is in full swing.
“Moore Trailers currently manufacture 400-500 trailers per year, depending on the demand. They are reaching beyond being a local supplier only and with their expansion the team will be pushing around 1,000 trailers out per year,” Scott Buchholz said.
Managing Director of the firm, Shayne Moore welcomed Scott Buchholz to the site.
“It was fantastic to have Scott here visiting to see the work we’re doing, to see that in fact there are still high-quality Australian firms manufacturing locally.
“We’ve been providing the freight industry, the agricultural sector and various industries with trailers and spare parts equipment for 31 years.
“Further to that, we’re currently planning our expansion which will see us build a new industrial shed, bring on more workers and increase production,” Mr Moore said.
Moore Trailers supply a wide variety of haulage trailers to the mining, agricultural and freight industry that keeps Australia moving.
