Federal Member for Wright, Scott Buchholz has announced Round six of the Safer Communities Grants program is now open.
The Australian Government is providing up to $20 million in funding for early intervention projects and up to $10 million for security infrastructure through round six of the Safer Communities Fund.
Mr Buchholz said the funding was an opportunity for local councils and community groups to partner with Government, to make the region safer.
“Through the early intervention stream of this grant program, our Government will work with locals to identify projects that will support at risk young people to help them turn away from crime and build positive relationships and skills.
“It is about partnerships, bringing people together and assisting the community to work in a cooperative way to decrease anti-social and criminal activity.
“The infrastructure stream will fund practical safety infrastructure such as CCTV and fencing to improve the safety of people and property,” Mr Buchholz said.
“I urge local community groups to consider projects that can be funded under this grant and to apply, at www.business.gov.au. There are guidelines available now and they include information about how to apply, eligibility and assessment criteria.
The early intervention grant opportunity opened on 28 May 2021 (closing 22 July 2021) and the security infrastructure grant opportunity opened on 15 June 2021 (closing 5 August 2021).
